Magpie Baseline Code of Conduct
Last updated: November 10, 2023
The following code of conduct is a baseline for our Magpie Guild at Bicolline— inclusive of all Magpies, and all friends of Magpie we might welcome into our campsite. This code is, of course, in addition to the rules of Bicolline itself.
1) No Bad Eggs. 🪺
No harassment, discrimination, predation, or bigotry. We will be unforgiving and quick with the ban hammer. There are many people to LARP with, and many friends to be found. We do not need racist, transphobic, exploitative, or otherwise bigoted people here. We will be exclusive to be inclusive. To clarify with an example- racist talk will get you banned, but BEING a racist, even on your best behavior, will also get you banned. Respect pronouns, choices, and people.
2) Respect Privacy. ☕️
Things said, personal information, and photos posted should not be screenshot, should not be shared with others, should not be public; many of us are by necessity very private individuals. Magpies and magpie friends are welcome- and together we will be planning for the future. Those plans, including travel information and possible heist quests are not certain, do not spoil surprises or infringe on privacy. Please use discretion.
3) Space and Grace. ♥️
Many of us Magpies are neurodivergent in some way. Handling this with grace and patience makes this a safer space for everyone. Being neurodivergent is NOT license to be an asshole, but missing social cues, anxiety/depression, panic attacks, needing time away from crowds or 1:1 time- this is normal for Magpie. At times, we'll get it wrong, we'll get tilted, things won't go our way- take a deep breath, then give yourself and each other space and grace. Reunite and talk later, exchange of shiny not necessary but recommended.
When speaking, especially when emotions are high, let your words pass through the Three Gates, before they exit your mouth:
At the first gate, ask yourself, is it true.
At the second gate ask, is it necessary.
At the third gate ask, is it kind.
I am not perfect, the reminders above are for me as well— thank you all for giving me space and grace when I get tilted too; together we are all improving, and learning how to support each other while medieval camping for a week in the wilderness!
Please pass on any larger or unresolved issues to Magda or myself directly.
