My Dearest Penpals! 💌

A warm thank you for your patience during the last two frigid months-- for so long, there has been no movement on my book of poems whatsoever; now predictably, everything is happening at once. A string of sunny days has little early blooms pushing through the soil, and this project will flower soon as well! 🌷

🎥 you can watch a more rambling video version of this update, alongside more life updates.

the poetry project update in brief; 📋
- the hardcovers (after a saga) will be here in a matter of weeks
- same for the paperbacks
- art prints are scanned, approved, printed, and on their way to me right now
- packaging materials will arrive next week
- I have secured green ink for signing those hardcovers!
- The Tattered Cover Book Shop will host the book release/pick up, as part of their local author meet and greet! (Date in April to be announced!)
- which means; it's now time for backer surveys! ⏰

Given everything else is falling into place, it is time at last to collect your details! Please fill out your survey as soon as is convenient. Put in your current shipping address; you can edit it right up to the point when I am about to ship; then I will lock the surveys. Let me know if you need any help!

For those of you who have ordered a hardcover as part of the collector’s bundle; if I have time I would like to write your name in the book— there’s a spot in the survey to put in your desired name, names, or family name, and I will try to personalize the books in addition to signing them.

📚 The Tattered Cover!!! I am starstruck! the history of authors who have held signings there, I am absolutely thrilled! For those of you who selected local pick up, our gathering will be hosted by the Tattered Cover Book Shop on Colfax in Denver!

It will be part of a Local Author Meet and Greet; so not just me, but I’ll have a little booth and there should be plenty of space. I do not have specific dates yet, but scheduling should happen soon, and I will announce as soon as I can! 🖋️

Miscellaneous:

Zines! ⚡️📚 -- a fascination of mine, and given the riveting conversations I have had with a few of you; I think it is time. Calling all of you writers, poets, artists-- wherever you are in your creative journey, no matter if your words or art have been secret or public; THIS IS YOUR CALL TO ACTION!
Let's make a Zine together! Let's make social art!
- Deadline? End of this year!
- What? Let's choose a theme, and print a little indie booklet! we'll fill it full of words, arts, crafts, love, inspiration-- whatever we want!
- Interested? Check the box on your survey, and I will reach out with specifics and add you to a little discord server! I won't move forward with any particular direction; I won't even name the Zine, until I have a few of you join to decide together!

Patches! ♾️🌈🎈-- As I mention in the video, I designed a few really simple little patches; mainly because I couldn't find exactly what I wanted online! First Patch Batch will arrive in April; and are definitely neurospicy/LGBTQ+ focused. If that's your thing, stay tuned!

Printmaking! 🪵📜-- This goes hand in hand with the zine fascination; I'll be starting my new woodworking journey, engraving woodblocks, rolling them with ink, and imprinting my art in a new way. If the idea of this enthralls you as it does me; may I highly recommend the Platemarks podcast, the moku hanga artist David Bull on youtube, and the book Wood Engraving by Simon Brett. I start my first beginner's course this week, after immersing myself in the history and how-to for a few months-- I'll post a pic of my first print in my next update!

Want to send a letter back? Leave a comment below with your own; maybe a fascination, what you've been up to, or a link to your own blog, website, or video-- I would love to hear more about what all of you are up to this year.

Reading this over again; I've quite glossed over the many lows I've experienced lately, a bit lonely, a bit sad, struggling as I deal with health and mobility issues. Many times, I just don't want to reach out or make plans with anyone, as I worry about having to cancel those plans and disappoint people. Keeping myself busy with new special interests is often how I cope; but I have been trying to take time to intentionally relax amidst nature. I keep an alarm set every day for the mid-afternoon, so I might go take a walk before the sun sets-- I think that has done a lot for my mental health, even as my silly knee aches. I hope, wherever you are and whoever you are, you might be able to sustain a daily practice of going out to appreciate nature.

Stay, and I'll see you again soon,
Aimee ♥︎

PS-- and your reward for reading... here are two pretty pictures I took on said nature walks. (I petted the cat SO much, my legs were covered in white fur)
